We followed the directions, letting the paper soak for about 4 hours. The enclosed blender doesn't work very well so I put the wet paper with warm water into my electric blender and the pulp came out great. I'm considering getting a cheap blender to use for this activity. After the paper was very mushy, my five year old had fun turning the crank on the plastic blender and examining the results.
